History of Greg Land in Comic Book Art

Greg Land began his professional comic book career working for StormQuest, an independent publisher who hired him after making his acquaintance at a Mid-Ohio comic book convention.

In 1999, he moved over to DC Comics, where he began providing the cover art for their Birds of Prey series. He would go on to do the interiors for that series as well and for the series Nightwing.

In 2001, Land began working on the Sojourn series, published by CrossGen Comics. Sojourn ran from 2001-2004 for a total of 34 issues. Land continued working for CrossGen until they went out of business, at which point he moved to Marvel Comics.

There, he did a variety of cover art as well as many variant covers and began working on the series X-Men: Phoenix Endsong, collaborating with writer Greg Pak. After that series, Land worked as the main penciller for the Ultimate Fantastic Four series. He also provided the artwork from Marvel's crossover series, Ultimate Power, which combined the storylines of Supremeverse and Ultimate Universe.

The series was written by Jeph Loeb, Brian Michael Bendies and J. Michael Straczynski. In addition to that series, Land also drew the cover for Marvel Zombies 3 which were all homages to notable zombies of famous films.

In 2008, Land began sporadically working on Marvel's Uncanny X-Men series, beginning with issue #500 for a total of 22 issues. He also illustrated for X-Men: Legacy #210, #235, #236 and #237. Beginning in 2012, he illustrated the relaunch of Uncanny X-Men issues #5-8 and then again for #11 and #12.
