Original Blonde Strip signed by Chic Young 1941

This comic strip by Chic Young was signed and apparently given as a gift to someone named John M Gaughan, as the signature is written with "To John M Gaughan". It is in the frame it was originally given as a gift in, so it is in fantastic shape.

The paper backing if the frame was opened so that I could confirm full authenticity. On the back of the piece is Young's handwriting. He wrote the title of the strip and the dimensions, as well as the number 11.

It is drawn on Bristol board and is about 20" x 5".

The typed date and copyright is cut from paper and pasted to the third panel, showing the date 1941.

Editor's reply:

Thanks for writing with details of your artwork.

Earlier Young Blondie pieces can fetch thousands. By the 1940s, though, their values drop off significantly.

We believe this piece will fetch $200-400 and is best sold on eBay.
