History of Eduardo Risso in Comic Book Art

Eduardo Risso is a comic book artist and cartoonist who first began working in the industry in 1981. He began his career in Argentina and collaborated with many publications in South America and Europe throughout the 1980s.

In 1999, Risso and writer Brian Azzarello launched a new series under Vertigo, entitled 100 Bullets, which would go on to be Risso's most popular title.

Between 2003-2004, the duo also collaborated on a number of Batman stories, including Broken City in Batman #620-625 and also a Batman serial for Wednesday Comics #1-12. In 2011, they would reunite to work on the limited series Flashpoint: Batman Knight of Vengeance.

Together they produced several other limited series like 100 Bullets: Brother Lono, Spaceman and Before Watchmen: Moloch.

Risso also illustrated the graphic novel Dark Night: A True Batman Story written by Paul Dini in 2016. He was also a contributor to the Image Comics' series Moonshine.

Over his career, Risso has won four Eisner Awards for his work on the 100 Bullets series. In 2001, he won the award for Best Serialized Story and in both 2002 and 2004 the award for Best Continuing Series. He also won for Best Artist in 2002.

Risso has taken home two Harvey Awards as well, both for Best Artist in 2003 and 2004.
