History of Mike Vosburg in Comic Book Art

Mike Vosburg is a comic book artist who began working professionally in the 1960s, making his own fanzines like Masquerader. During the 1970s Vosburg worked for numerous underground comics such as Split Screen, written by Tom Veitch.

Later that decade, he would take an artist position with Western Publishing, Charlton Comics and others, drawing various horror stories like Bizarre Sex #3 for Kitchen Sink Press.

By the 1980s, Vosburg was working for both DC Comics and Marvel Comics. The title he has become most associated with over his career would by The Savage She-Hulk series for Marvel. He was also a regular artist on other Marvel titles like G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, Punisher, The Savage Sword of Conan and Sisterhood of Steel.

Vosburg also worked on the series Bloodshot and Archer & Armstrong for Valiant Comics.

In addition to his regular comic book work, he illustrated a number of comic book covers for the TV series Tales From the Crypt, which he designed to look aesthetically similar to the original 1950s comics.

Vosburg was responsible for drawing up the story board for the series title segment as well and illustrated almost every single cover used for the show's 93 episodes from 1989 to 1996.

Vosburg has also self-published a number Lori Lovecraft books based on the title character whom he also created. He now predominantly works in film and television although he will occasionally provide cover art and pin-ups for selected titles.
