History of Ron Lim in Comic Book Art

Ron Lim began his career in the comic book industry in 1986 contributing artwork to the independent series Ex-Mutants, until 1988 before being "discovered" by Marvel Comics at one of their conventions in 1987.

Lim was hired on the spot and took up a position penciling for the third instalment of Silver Surfer from 1988-1994.

He also pencilled the 'Infinity Trilogy', one of Marvel's largest crossover series beginning with Infinity Gauntlet (1991), Infinity War (1992) and Infinity Crusade (1993).

At this same time he was pencilling for other Marvel series such as X-Men 2099, Captain America, Spider-Man Unlimited and Venom: Lethal Protecter.

In the late 1990s Lim began contributing to DC Comics while continuing to work for Marvel. He provided artwork for the series Sovereign Seven, Green Lantern Vol. 3, Hawkman and Flash Vol. 2.

He also worked briefly for Archie Comics, pencilling for the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

In 2002 Lim was among several artists who attempted to launch their own publishing company, Future Comics, with Lim creating the six-issue series Metallix under the new publisher. However the company was a flop, and Lim returned to Marvel Comics for much of the 2000s to work on Avengers Next, J2 and Fantastic Five.

Known for his cover art work, Lim has provided covers for a host of miniseries and one-shots as well as many other highly collectible variant covers.
