History of Marc Silvestri in Comic Book Art

Marc Silvestri began working in the comic book industry in the early eighties, first guest drawing on Master of Kung Fu #119 for Marvel Comics.

From 1987-1990 Silvestri served as the penciller for Uncanny X-Men and then pencilled the spin-off title, Wolverine for two years following that. In 1992, Silvestri helped to form the new publishing company Image Comics, along with artists Jim Lee, Whilce Portacio, Rob Liefeld, Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane and Jim Valentino.

Silvestri published his various titles under the imprint Top Cow, his first being Cyberforce. Following that he helped to co-plot and script the title Codename: Stryke Force, also published by Top Cow.

Silvestri left Image Comics in 1996, citing creative disputes with other partners; however, he returned to the publisher following Liefield's departure shortly thereafter. Some notable titles from Top Cow include Witchblade, The Darkness, Fathom and Inferno Hellbound.

In 1997, Silvestri created the preliminary character sketches and storyline of what would become the video game Fighting Force. Silvestri returned to work for Marvel in 2004 to pencil several issues of X-Men in collaboration with Marvel writer Grant Morrison. He also provided the cover art for the miniseries, X-Men: Deadly Genesis, written by Ed Brubaker and Trevor Hairsine.

Silvestri released Cyberforce #0 in 2006 which featured a collection of his artistic talents. In 2007, he pencilled the one-shot X-Men: Messiah Complex and in 2009 pencilled the one-shot X-Men/Dark Avengers: Utopia.
