History of Mike Zeck in Comic Book Art

Mike Zeck got his start in the comic book indursty working for Charlton Comics in 1974. He provided illustrations for various assignments and then began drawing for their horror titles, like Creepy Things and Ghostly Tales.

Zeck moved to Marvel Comics in 1977, initially pencilling for their Master of Kung Fu series. Master of Kung Fu was rated number six on Comics Bulletin's list of Top 10 1970's Marvels in 2010. Zeck also pencilled for Captain America and G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero

In 1984, Zeck illustrated the limited series Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars, wherein he changed the colour of Spider-Man's costume from red and blue to black and white.

This temporary change for the series led to the creation of Venom, a new villain for Spider-Man. Zeck then illustrated The Punisher, a miniseries written by Steven Grant which was later made into a graphic novel, entitled, The Punisher: Circle of Blood.

In 1987, Zeck illustrated Kraven's Last Hunt which many consider to be the most significant stories in the history of Spider-Man, and is seen to be the most significant storyline of the Kraven the Hunter character.

Zeck has also worked for DC Comics, providing the cover art for Batman #417-420, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, Legends of the DC Universe, and Deathstroke, The Terminator.

Zeck also illustrated the second issue of The Kingdom in 1999, the follow up series to Kingdom Come.
